The Child and Family Guidance Center was founded in 1925 to address the emotional and psychological wellbeing of children and their families. To this end the Center offers a wide range of outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling services for children under the age of 18 as well as a variety of in-home supportive services to their families.The Center operates three outpatient clinics located in Bridgeport, Stratford, and Fairfield. Description of Organization and Activities:
Community Sailing of Fairfield, operated by its members, under the auspices of the Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department, is based at the Town Dock in beautiful Southport Harbor. This sailing program makes available to its members, two fixed keel, family-size Ideal 18’ daysailers, four two man kayaks and two one man kayaks. Household memberships are available to anyone over the age of 18. The annual fees for a household are: $395 (full week), $250, (weekday only) and a 10% discount for seniors. This entitles any family member over the age of 18, who has passed our skills testing, to reserve unlimited two-hour sailing slots from May through October. Skippers must be in possession of a "Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate" and pass a test to demonstrate basic sailing and water safety skills. A certified sailing instructor is available to provide lessons to achieve the required skills. The program offers weekly racing opportunities hosted by the Pequot Yacht Club and the option for members to race our boats in area regattas.

Founded in 1914, Birdcraft is the first private bird sanctuary in the United States. This six-acre site was originally planted as a refuge to attract, harbor, and feed migratory and resident birds. To date, more than 120 bird species have been recorded on its grounds. Birdcraft’s focus today is offering premier natural history education programs and events for children and adults. It is also a federally-licensed Bird-Banding Station.

Connecticut Audubon Society conserves Connecticut’s environment through science-based education and advocacy focused on the state’s bird populations and habitats. Founded in 1898, Connecticut Audubon Society (CAS) operates nature facilities in Fairfield, Milford, Glastonbury and Pomfret, an EcoTravel office in Essex and an Environmental Advocacy program in Hartford. Connecticut Audubon Society manages 19 wildlife sanctuaries around the state, preserves over 2,600 acres of open space in Connecticut and educates over 200,000 children and adults annually. Working exclusively in the state of Connecticut for over 100 years, CAS is an independent organization, not affiliated with any national or governmental group.
Connecticut Audubon Society’s scientists, educators, Citizen Scientists, and volunteers work to preserve birds and their environments in Connecticut. Our work includes sanctuary management, advocacy, environmental education and activities at our Centers, scientific studies, and our Connecticut State of the Birds project.
