in the process of invention. We also welcome tinkerers and people with
that "great idea" who want to network with professionals to

success stories, marketing professionals who teach members how to advance
their ideas, corporate product development professionals who explain
the process of new product development from a corporate point-of-view,
legal experts who explain the latest legislation, and many others.
We invite non-members to come to several meetings to see if we meet

Description of Organization and Activities:
The Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County (JLEFC) is an organization
of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential
of women and improving the community through the effective action and
leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational
and charitable. Celebrating over 85 years of community service, the
JLEFC continues to respond to local needs with the vision of working
in our community. The League is a great way to meet other women with
common interests in a more relaxed setting. We are involved in the community
through many projects throughout the year. The projects of the JLEFC
include, a Butterfly Atrium Project with the Connecticut Audubon, a
School Partnering project, and the Bridgeport Day Care project. With
respect to the Bridgeport Day Care project, we are working with the
Curiale School in Bridgeport and we are in the process of selecting
a community partner to establish a child care facility in the South
End of Bridgeport, Connecticut. It is our plan to have this facility
offer infant/toddler and pre-school day care/school readiness programs
to the children of parents who are expected to work under Connecticut's
time-limited welfare program, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families.
The Junior League is also involved in Done in a Day projects throughout
the year, such as creating a garden at Operation Hope in Fairfield to
provide food and flowers for the residents, collecting clothing, baby
goods including cribs and high chairs for the women in Mercy Learning
Center's tutoring program, and running a blood drive for the American
Red Cross.
The JLEFC's annual fundraiser is the Art Show at the Burr Homestead,
which is a three-day event that sells original art at affordable prices.
Special events take place such as an Opening Night Party with Silent
and/or Live Auction, and special vendors/events in the tent.
The JLEFC welcomes women of all races, religions, and national origins
who are committed to voluntarism. Any woman interested in joining the
