What is an eAudiobook?
A NetLibrary eAudiobook is a digital version of an audiobook. It can be downloaded and played on a computer or portable device that supports Windows Media Player 9.0 or above. You can search for and download an eAudiobook from the library catalog or from a link on our Home Page to the eAudiobook collection.
Getting Started
In order to check out and listen to an eAudiobook, you need:
A valid library card issued by the Fairfield Public Library.
- A free NetLibrary account.
- A computer with an internet connection and Windows Media Player version 9 or above . (eAudiobooks do not work with iPods or Macintosh computers.)
- A portable device that supports Windows Media Player 9.0 or above. (Or you can listen on your computer.)
Selecting an eAudiobook :
There are two ways to search the eAudiobook collection:
- From the library website or catalog, click on the NetLibrary eAudiobooks link. Enter your library card number and log in. Then click on “eAudiobooks” (right-hand side of the page). You can search for an eAudiobook by Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, or Narrator, or view the entire list of eAudiobooks by clicking on “List All eAudiobooks” (right-hand side of the page).
- Or, search the library catalog. The keyword “audio file” will bring up all the available eAudiobooks.
Downloading an eAudiobook
There are two ways to download an eAudiobook:
- From NetLibrary, select an eAudiobook and click on “Download this eAudiobook.” Select the quality of the eAudiobook.* Log in if you have not logged in already, then proceed to download your file. It is recommended that you do not play the file while it is downloading.
- From within the library catalog, select an eAudiobook and click on the “Chain” icon (on the right-hand side). Enter your library card number. You will be linked to the title in the eAudiobook collection. Click on “Download this eAudiobook.” Select the quality of the audiobook.* Log in if you have not logged in already , then proceed to download your file. It is recommended that you do not play the file while it is downloading
* CD quality is necessary to transfer the eAudiobook onto a portable listening device.
