The Fairfield Public Library and the Fairfield Arts Council are co-sponsoring a special slideshow presentation and narrative by Gillian Marshall: The Himalayan Mountain Kingdom...and the story of a little girl called Rosie. This photo presentation will be held on Sunday, May 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.
Gillian Marshall, an exhibiting member of the Art Society of Old Greenwich, Darien Arts Center, Greenwich Art Society, New Canaan Society for the Arts, and Rowayton Arts Center, has won more than 60 awards. She was awarded three Honorable Mentions in the 2006 International Photography Awards. Ms. Marshall travels regularly each year to South Asia, journeying ever deeper into Tibet, Bhutan, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Mongolia.
She visited Bhutan, as a guest of the Royal Family. During her visit to India in 2000, she received a private audience with His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama. Marshall delights in the richness of her experiences and through her photography strives to capture the spirit of her travels, giving her viewers a sense of South Asia, its people and the diversity of its many cultures.
