The Library's Reference staff is available to assist and train the public in using the library and to answer their questions through print and database sources. Online databases are available for public use including newspaper abstracts, general periodical indexes, abstracts for business periodicals and health information. BUSINESS REFERENCE has up-to-date information on all aspects of business including investment, finance, management and small business concerns.
CONSUMER INFORMATION. The library maintains an extensive collection of consumer information which describes and evaluates a wide variety of products and services.
E-MAIL REFERENCE SERVICE. E-mail your reference question to us. We will provide brief, factual answers to questions submitted using our E-Reference form. You will receive a response in 1 – 2 business days. Questions submitted before a holiday or on weekends may take a little longer.
GOVERNMENT statistical, demographic and directory information, as well as local, state and federal statutes is available.
HEALTH INFORMATION. This collection includes current material on diseases and treatments, prescription drugs, medical tests, alcohol and drug abuse, nutrition and other health-related topics.
INTERNET ACCESS. The library provides Internet access. Reservations may be made by phone (203-255-7308) or by signing up online. The Library offers a series of Technology Topics classes covering different aspects of computers and the Internet. WiFi access is also available at the library.
JOBS AND CAREERS. The Fairfield Rotary Club supports this special collection of books, audiotapes and videos on all aspects of career planning and job hunting. The Main Library also subscribes to national listings of job vacancies.
SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES. The library offers up-to-date information about educational programs from preschool to graduate school, including technical schools, correspondence courses and home schooling.
TAX FORMS. During the tax season, both libraries make available large quantities of the most used tax forms. A collection of reproducible tax forms, supplied by the IRS, is available for photocopying throughout the year.
TELEPHONE DIRECTORIES. Print directories are available for Connecticut, New York City and the Washington, D. C. areas. National white and yellow page listings are available on a computer database.
YEARBOOKS for Roger Ludlow High School, dating back to the 1930's, and Fairfield High School may be found at the Main Library.
